X-Mas Riddims

So there haven't been any posts for a while now. We've both had lots of work which has got in the way....sorry to anyone who has been checking often but it's Xmas and the work is finished so the posts will come thick and fast now......hold tight

Although a bit later than originally handed out, here is an early Christmas present from the Boogaloo Crew. It's their reworking of DRT's Rising Sun, more of a summer tune in my opinion but that doesn't take away anything from the fact the production is beaut. As we've said before on this blog these guys have serious talent, all their tunes will get you bouncing, as will their dj sets.....

DRT - Rising Sun (Boogaloo Crew Remix)

This tune is popping up everywhere at the moment, not just in funky sets but everywhere. I much prefer this remix to the original tune, it's got more of a bouncy feel to it. Roska is killing it at the moment...

Boris Dlugosch - Bangkok (Roska Remix)

This up and coming producer has made one of my favourite house tunes of 2009, loving the sax samples...

elDOKO - Wormwood Blues

Finally here is a Dubstep tune I cannot stop listening to at the moment. I love the vocals, the heavy beat and stabs of bass. Very chilled but this one is special, trust me....

Von D Ft. Phephe - Show Me

................................................................................................................................................................

The rest of these are all about a year old or so, just a few tunes that i've been listening to a lot lately (some familiar names).....

Mr Elastic - Justice (Mowgli Remix)

Tim Green - Revox (Justin Martin Remix)

Phil Kieran - Missp (Original)

.................................................................................................................................................................

As I write this it's currently snowing outside so might actually be a white X-mas, that would be nice eh!

Have a good one everybody

Tomb Crew - Jingle Bells

Big ones

So I got some nice deep tunes for you today, more in the Burial-esque mold. I say this because most people think of Burial when they think of deep dubstep/2-step music. People like Joy Orbison are creating a real stir now with their 2steping beats and deep synths. I've also got some other stuff to throw in....

It's a bit of a mixed up post, consider it a list of things i'm really liking at the moment that I recommend you go and buy....(Some are not full quality to protect the artist and the blog)

Sbtrkt - Rekorda
Zarif - Over (Breakage 3AM Remix)

Ellie Goulding - Under The Sheets (Pariah Remix)

Synkro, Faib - Inhale

nice deep stuff from the Manchester based Synkro

Chase and Status - Love's Theme
this one has been around ages. I've had a bit of a drum and bass revival of late.....

Redlight - Kid Soliders : this is too big, Redlight aka Clipz has released an ep called Lobster Boy, got to buy it it's huge

Skream - What Did He Say

new Skream, always big

Roska - The Sheppard

this man is killing it on in the UK Funky scene

enjoy

Boogaloo Crew Mix for Boxfresh

London based djs and producers the Boogaloo crew just released this mix in collaboration with Boxfresh. I can't speak more highly about this duo, they've already got a backlog of quality beats up on their Myspace, and a fresh new side project called Dark Sky, which is set to kill it....

As for the mix, it features some hot dubstep/2-step/funky/house tracks. Including some classics like the end track Deep Inside, a proper old school house tune, with a garage vibe. Be sure to check out the Dark Sky track at 18.50.....big tune

Set Me Free

Time for a big post now, full of house tracks sure to make you bounce like the character above, Zebedee from the Magic Roundabout who as you can see has a lower body made entirely of springs, so he's probably somewhat an expert on the activity.

Drop the Lime's most recent release Set Me Free has been remixed by Reso and Zombie Disco Squad to name two of many. Harvard Bass's effort is by my favourite, it's a very stabby house remix with a nice breakdown and drop. I can't get enough of this at the moment...

Drop the Lime - Set Me Free (Harvard Bass Remix)

Keeping in sync with the stabbing, bouncy house vibe. Here's a remix from CrashBleepBang favourite Riva Starr. And once again there's a nice build up and drop into some very bouncy synth stabs

Reekay Garcia - Back To The Beat (Riva Starr Remix)

This next one is very interesting and sure to kick off a crazed gypsy dance-off in whatever situation it's played out in. Balkan Beat Box make the original track, one which Diplo has sampled before, but I just can't remember where. I don't know too much about them, but they are a brass ensemble who play gigs in very exotic places like Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Beer Sheva (I don't know where that is). Anyway, this is a remix by INSPKTR and it's sweet.

Balkan Beat Box - Bulgarian Chicks (INSPKTR Bootleg)

Malente and Dex are up next and following on from the gypsy theme. The German producers who team up quite often, who make some very interesting music have made another very bouncy house tune. They've sampled some gypsy style horns and vocal stabs. Very nice stuff, check out all their stuff, including the Jan Driver Remix of their track Lions, which you can cop over at the brilliant you can call me pelski blog.

Malente & Dex - Gipsy Kings (feat. Analogik)

I posted the Noob and Brodinksi collaboration Peanut Club a while back. Here's the Momma's Boy Remix. As I've said before, eyes open for Sound Pelligrino releases they tend to be very sick.

Noob & Brodinski - Peanuts Club (Momma's Boy Remix)

This is one that's been on quite heavy rotation on the blogs. So admittedly i'm quite late posting this one up, but I couldn't give fuck really. Dubbel Dutch has consistently made tunes that I like, remixing people's tunes and making his own. He is definitely a favourite of mine, although I do tend to use that word a bit too much. This one is a remix of Daniel Haaksman, I like the percussion in the beat and the nice warped vocal samples, very good work.

Daniel Haaksman - Kid Conga feat. MC Miltinho (Dubbel Dutch Remix)

This next one made me very happy when I heard it for the first time. Trust me this is not what you expect, but You will recognize almost instantly where the sample was used and by who and for what song.

Najat Aatabou - Just Tell Me The Truth

So I hope i've collected together a nice little group of tunes for you to all bounce around to. Hope you enjoy em

On a quiet tip

I'm a big fan of 16 Bit's work. They shocked everyone when they released Chainsaw Calligraphy, possibly one of the filthiest and yet most inventive dubstep tunes around. And since then they have been making some big tracks. Check out Cobra if you haven't heard it already it's a tidy bit of production featuring some sweet sitar samples at the beginning.

I got my hands on these a couple of days ago and was once again shocked to find that these boys have started producing more chilled out stuff, I'm loving the more chilled vibe at the moment. So it's out with the chainsaw samples, in with the garage style samples and a less aggressive beat.

16 Bit - Twice

16 Bit - Shallow

top stuff from the West Londoners. Try and catch them live, they put on a good show. And be sure to show them love on both Myspace and Beatport....

Thats Far Too Loud

'Shaizerpoopen' was what I said the first time I heard the drop on this song. It can only be 'Dancefloor Destroyer' by Far Too Loud. Breaks is absolutely incredibly energetic and fun and I can't understand why it's not more popular. This tune epitomizes that energy taking a well known Classical tune and making it Bass heavy. It can seem get quite repetitive after the drop BUT it builds and builds until a mighty booooooooossssshhhh, in the 4 min mark. Anyway it certainly does what it titles implies, enjoy fucking loud;

Good Dub Son

Soulful and technically prolific is the worlds I choose to describe Donnie Dubson. I've been a fan for a while now since I heard 'Everywhere' and he's just released a new EP. You'll like him if you like soulful Drum & Bass producers like Utah Jazz then you'll definitely like this. You'll actually like him if you like Drum & Bass in general. You'll probably like him if you don't even like D 'n B. Anyway please enjoy and check out his myspace here;
