Delphic Remixes

Delphic are a 3 piece band from Manchester. They blend euphoric sounding electronic elements with guitars and indie drumming to create a very original upbeat and danceable form of indie electronica. They have been hyped up a lot by the BBC and are one of the 15 shortlisted music acts for the BBC Sound of 2010. As of January they've been placed 3rd in the table. Their music leaves a lot of potential for remixing so it's not surprising that three of the Uk's best young house producers have stepped up to the task.

L-Vis 1990, Julio Bashmore and Doc Daneeka have all had a go. Wait till the 1.50 mark of the L-Vis track for the huge drop that we've all come to love and expect from his productions. I like this one because it really keeps the vocals of the song together in the breakdown, then smashes everything all over the place when it drops, one for the dance floor for sure.

Julio Bashmore adds the trademark pounding bassline and snappy beat, while keeping the fading synth slabs

Doc Daneeka hits up the percussive style beat and cut up vocal samples, and slaps over another pounding bassline

heavy stuff, and just another indication of the seriously good stuff coming out of the Uk House/Uk Funky crossover....

C*L*A*S*H

Welcome to C*L*A*S*H - Have you got the Pod Factor?

C*L*A*S*H is an mp3 player soundclash night, the rules are as follows : 8 teams of roughly 3-5 people are entered then put against each other like in a boxing match.

There is no knowledge of mixers or decks required. It is purely plug and play, for all you who don't have mixing skills you can surely relate. The teams 'battle' each other in heats. They play three tracks alternately - there are no rules as to what they play, anything goes. After they finish the crowd decides who goes through to the next round.

The eight teams are whittled down to two finalists, from which the crowd will pick an Ultimate Winner and Champion

It will be compered by Big Rich with DJs spinning tunes before, after and between the heats. Entry is free and the drinks are cheap at the King's Cross Social Club

It's going to be a furious battle for the trophy. Come down and watch me take the crown in the name of CrashBleepBang.... although i'm sure i'm up against some serious competition in the form of Slutty Fringe and the other teams....they're going to get served

Here is link to the facebook group

Details:
18th Feb 9.00pm - 2.00am
Kings Cross Social Club
2 Britannia Street

To give you a little taster of how it works, here is footage from the 2009 championship

DOOOOOOOnut

This is too big, never as good as the original but still huge

Booka Shade feat. M.A.N.D.Y - Donut (Boy 8 Bit Remix)

it takes a while to drop and get really good but still a huge remix from Boy 8 Bit, I think all his recent stuff has been brilliant. Glicthy synths and solid 4x4 beat gives this a proper tech house feel

enjoy x

Around The World

I've been loving Julio Bashmore's stuff for while and he has consistently been laying out big tracks equal amounts of time. He's been in blog rotation for quite a bit but as more and more dj's play his tracks and remixes the attention has got huge. He's been signed to Claude Von Stroke's label Dirtybird, which clearly means he's doing something that's flicking switches.

These are a couple of his older tracks....

Julio Bashmore - Um Bongo's Revenge

Got to love the samples in this one, wicked percussive beat and a stupidly heavy bassline. It's got quite a funky/tribal feel to it.

Julio Bashmore - Around

I love this track. It's a perfect cross between a good warm up track and one you can really bounce to. Lovely heavy kick drum and bassline, and it has perfect breakdowns before the bass comes in the beat starts again

This is a spanking new release...

Julio Bashmore - World Peace

He always has the fat subby bassline, and funky beats. Got to love his production. Cop the mix he did for Curbcrawlers blog it's an amazing blend of funky, house, 2 step and tech house. Kicks off with a personal favourite track of mine Kenton Slash Demon's, Khatabi. Also listen for a sneak at Foamo's relatively new tune Jookie, which I assume is set for release.

Hit up his myspace and if your in based in Bristol, go to Bugged Out on the 20th feb, where he's going to be supporting the marvelous Jesse Rose, definitely not to be missed out on....

Keep 'em coming Julio

safe x

VVV

Bringing you some tunes straight out of the frying pan state today. VVV is a producer from Austin, Texas is the US of A. He blends dubstep, 2-step, garage and his own experimental touch together to create some top tunes. The sound is not dissimilar to the one coming out of the UK at the moment. He's getting a big rep on dubstep and future garage forums and has stuff scheduled for release on the same label as Shortuff....

VVV - Untitled 4

This track reminds me a lot of Burial's work. 2-step beat, stabbing synths and a subby bass line, there are some pretty trippy vocal samples underneath the whole thing.

VVV - Learning Curve

This one has got another 2-step percussive beat, deep bassline, good vocal snippets throughout and some poky synths.

Good stuff
