Introducing - Youandewan

Those of you who purchased or have listened to Midland's superb Bring Joy EP, will have found it hard to not hear the Youandewan remix.

It is a first class 11 minute long beast of a remix. An impressive journey of snappy house snare drums, muffled kicks and tinny hight hats paired with subtly stifled synths and glimmering vocals.

Admittedly a few months back I was sent a Youandewan track and it was lost in the maelstrom of emails that any present day journalism student receives. But I am finally getting round to posting that very tune.

With similar drum styles and patterns as the Midland remix it's another beauty. Sauntering along at a perfect 120bpm. I love this track because it reminds me of Watergate club in Berlin, the residents would start off the night playing slow and subtle tracks like this before smashing it later on.

So I got some nice deep tunes for you today, more in the Burial-esque mold. I say this because most people think of Burial when they think of deep dubstep/2-step music. People like Joy Orbison are creating a real stir now with their 2steping beats and deep synths. I've also got some other stuff to throw in....

I love Zomby's production it tends to be quite trippy. With a strong techy/psychedelic feel. But what I love the most about him is his use of old school beats. This remix has a wicked old school rave style beat over the bleepy synths; Lovely stuff....

Skream, he needs no introduction. He's gone on a wobble tip with this track. I love the dubby sampling at the beginning, need to look for the original track...

Uzul Prod - Rumble inna Station (Skream Remix)

Remember Sidney Samson's bleepy electro house tune Riverside? Of course you do it's still being rinsed in clubs all over the place. Breakage goes at this one, bringing in a very nice beat and chopping up the original synth hook so it's not quite so annoying...this is huge!

New Duplates...

Skream is back! although did he ever go? Everything this young Croydon lad does turns to gold. No wonder big players such as Diplo want to collaborate and play alongside with him, he's class. And he can play alongside anyone and stills kills it, even if it's not a Dubstep orientated night.

I've got two new remixes from him, which he's giving away to all the lucky people out there. Anyone remember a certain La Roux remix he gave away for free just under a year ago? Quite a memorable one!

This is a pretty new producuer called Altimeter, who normally produces more chilled out dubstep, but he's gone for some wobbly stuff here, loving the vocal samples in this one...

Altimeter - Yout Man

James Blake is another one who is set to rip up the scene. He's an interesting producer as he comes from a very musical background, he plays the piano at a ridiculous grade and has composed pieces of classical music. He's from and based in Scotland so if you in Edinburgh try and catch him. Can't put out his tunes on the blog but have a listen to this youtube clip of Air and Lack Thereof and buy his e.p. if you like it, he is on Untold's label Hemlock

I think this tune is stunning, very experimental but could fit in being played out to dancefloor
